Ugh…

My late husband, Dave, and our youngest child and only son, Ben, were very close.  Ben was only 15 1/2 when his dad died from cancer in May 2005.  He’s now 18 and making his mom nuts. :)  Seriously, he’s gorgeous and talented–has soccer scouts emailing and calling from colleges.  He also has a good heart, which goes a long way in making up for the usual high school senior shortcomings.  :D

Did I mention his dad taught him to cook?  The kids always thought their dad was a better cook than mom, which was a Good Thing while I was on deadline, which was more often than not the last ten years of Dave’s life.  He was extremely supportive of my career.  I couldn’t have asked for a more loving and supportive husband or family.  ::sigh::

Anyway, Ben has continued the tradition, and cooks a lot of our meals–by choice!  And if he falls asleep with his TV on and I come upstairs to turn it off in the middle of the night, what channel do I find left on?  Nothing erotic.  Not MTV.  Nope.

The FOOD CHANNEL.  Yup…

I keep suggesting culinary school.  Take a look.  Don’t you think he’d be a hit with his own show on the FOOD CHANNEL?  :-)

Of course, I know I’m a wee bit biased, but I’m allowed.

Check within your community. There are a few places around me that are cooking schools but will offer a one or two-day class. Also, check community colleges. Give him a ‘taste’ before going to culinary school.

I see nothing wrong with falling asleep to the Food Network. Although, I swear I wake up chubbier if Paula Dean’s show has been on…

No doubt - he could do the food channel show but does he want to? I know a caterer who’s husband teaches at a culinary school. Be sure and check it out from those in the biz before making a choice. Does he have a job at a restaurant?

My brother was offered a full ride at college for music but he took a biology class and is now semi-retired as a profusionist (runs the heart and lung machine during surgery).

Ben’s got tons going for him, may have even more talents to round out his life. Soccer will keep him in shape, cooking will keep everyone coming to his home. His good looks and awesome smile will open all sorts of doors for him.

All three of my girls that have settled into career paths, have surprised me with there choices. Only one to go…

Oh yeah, with the youngest in college, so am I. I decided I want to be a writer. LOL!

Deb he’s gorgeous! I have to ask, after looking at all those pics, what height has he topped out at? :D

Amie, you shameless hussy! :) He’s 6′ 3″ and not finished growing since he’s barely 18…. ::sigh::

    LOL he’s adorable.

I swear they’re like PUPPIES! My son plays b’ball with a 7th grader who’s 6′1…no JOKE (and my son is now taller than me. I can’t stand it)
