Spring Showers

March 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

Ah…springtime in the Rockies!  Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?  Well, the two snowiest months of the year at 7,436′ above sea level are March and April!  We hadn’t seen bare ground up here on this mountain since October.  On Saturday temperatures reached almost 70.  It was glorious!  Then one of our infamous “spring showers” commenced early Sunday morning, and by bedtime we had almost a foot of fresh white snow with deeper drifts.

Yes, that’s springtime in the Rockies….

Spring in Oregon is volatile this year and reminds me of my childhood with weather off the Great Lakes. The year we left NJ, we got 4 feet of snow overnight and temps in the high 60’s that day.
    It was April Fools Day.

I’m sure flowers will be blooming soon for you. Mine are, but I also have a fire going in the woodstove right now.
